Extra, extra, read all about it...

Steve Cickay pulled some strings and got a newspaper reporter to come out and write all about us.  The gentlemen that came out came across as very nice, but also a tad rushed and his excessive yawning made me think that he might be overworked.   I also can see how reporters misquote people all the time, this guy scribbled worse than my doctor writing a script.  I’m still amazed that the pharmacist can make out what’s written there.  I assume if this guy was for real the write up will be in the August addition of the Penny Pack Shopper.  Is it called that anymore?  It was nice to see the majority of you sporting the Speedsters singlet, though I forgot to get a picture of the group on my phone.

Last night was extremely hot, but still 22 Speedsters came out to workout.  This was impressive with the thermometer still north of the 90 degree mark and so many of you still opting to run.  I was also surprised that the moaning and groaning was at a season low.  I put together a simple workout that allowed multiple water breaks, but it was still challenging, maybe the whining is over for this year and we’re now getting down to business…doubtful.

Coming out in the heat:

Allyson, myself, Tereza, Rob (way to step it up and come out of your comfort zone), Hilda, Jay, Eric T, Rod, Brian, Christine Llyod did her first speed workout, Bharminder, Joe G, Joe H, Angela, Carol, Chrissy Gaul (first timer welcome!), our newest member Lev Skorodinsky (welcome to the Speedsters), Greg Z, Harris (welcome back!), Christina, Denise, and Steve C.

Workout:

1 mile warm-up (as if it wasn’t warm enough)
4x200 (200)
2 min rest
4x200(200)
2 min rest
4x200 (200)

Good luck to Mike Gross, he left last night for Israel to compete in the Maccabi Games.  Mike you have worked your butt off and there is no doubt in our minds that you will perform unbelievably.  DIG DEEP!  http://www.maccabiusa.com/sports/competitions/19th-maccabiah-games.html

Thursday’s Hill workout will start at Council Rock North (we park in the lots closest to the softball fields) 6PM.

Till we run into each other again...
